Bennett's (red-necked) wallaby

Bennetts wallaby 5sq

Bennett’s wallaby is cryptic (camouflaged) in a variety of vegetation types including tall tussock.

Bennett’s wallaby are found in dry indigenous shrublands of matagouri, flaxlands, tall tussock grasslands, exotic pasture with sufficient cover and edges of native forest. Their colouration can be similar to the surrounding vegetation – this is known as cryptic colouring.
