Rusa (Javan) deer

A male (stag) rusa deer in the forest.

Rusa deer have pointed ears and the stags have antlers. Their coat is reddish brown during the summer, dark greyish-brown in winter. Female rusa deer (hind) are greyish-red during the winter.

Rusa deer are a medium-sized deer, slightly smaller than sambar deer. Fawns are a pale tan, are unspotted and have a white chin.
